The project

Looking back on Sept. 11, 2001, we often think about where we were when the first plane hit the World Trade Center. The bigger question is: Where are we today? The impact of the event was felt around the globe, most especially in Arab and Muslim communities. In Canada, it led to questions about our multicultural way of life, the place of religion in society and the integration of immigrants.

To gauge the extent of the changes in the last 10 years, CBC/Radio-Canada is giving voice to 10 Canadian Muslims. In 10 video portraits, they reflect on their situation in the decade post-9/11 and discover their lives are both rich and complicated. As you navigate this web documentary project, we invite you to join the dialogue, and also look to the future and consider your personal wishes for Muslims in Canada in 2021.
